JMMB/Joan Duncan Foundation Sponsorship of JFF Coaching School
Dedicated to playing their part in the development of sports in Jamaica, JMMB has committed for its fifth year of support behind the JMMB/Jamaica Football Federation/University of Technology Coaching programme, which began in 2009. Since inception, the programme has seen more than 600 coaches graduating from Advanced Levels 1 and 2 courses, making them qualified to coach football clubs, high school and primary teams.Through interactive theory and practical sessions, coaches are exposed to both the technical and scientific aspects of the sport and coaching. As part of this ongoing investment, the Coaching School is now en route to becoming a part of a holistic Coaching Education Programme which will be offered alongside recognized Advanced Levels 1 and 2 courses as well as specialised courses in Youth, Women’s and Goalkeeping Coaching and Physical Training Courses.Celebration abounded at the graduation ceremony held in January 2014 where (73) seventy-three coaches were successful and had passed the programme’s requirements. This included (2) two women from the 2013/2014 courses. Renewing its commitment in February 2014, the JMMB Foundation once again pledged partnership with the programme. The Coaching School is aimed at developing the technical competencies and skills of coaches and is designed to build a consistent standard of coaching and instill more professionalism in the sport.
