Entrepreneurial Transformation

The JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation, responding to the critical challenges of unemployment, small business difficulties and a seemingly lack of positive and ethical business practices; partnered with the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona School of Business & Management to rouse the spirit of entrepreneurship in young people and stimulate the growth of the small business sector through support of UWI Venture Competition since 2013.
In addition to the sponsorship, JMMB executives volunteered their time as mentors for teams participating in the competition.
Participants also compete for the Joan Duncan Corporate Social Responsibility award recognising the team who best incorporated CSR in their business plan.
The competition is aligned with the Foundation’s mantra by providing a unique learning experience for the participants who had the opportunity to launch their own companies while participating in the exercise.
